"I Don't Think So": Ant-Man Star Addresses Whether They Will Ever Return In The MCU

One of the original Ant-Man stars reveals if they are considering a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since the start of The Multiverse Saga, Marvel Studios has been focusing on introducing new heroes and villains to the MCU timeline, as well as expanding on some of their established ones who haven"t had as much time to shine. However, there comes a time when some characters finish their time in the MCU, and it appears that one of the original superheroes in the franchise is considering their journey in the Avengers-based universe completed.
In a new interview with Deadline, Michael Douglas, who has been with the MCU franchise since the very first Ant-Man movie as Dr. Hank Pym, was asked if there was any chance he would want to do another Marvel Studios film. However, it seems like Douglas is done with the MCU, as he shared the following response:
I don’t think so. I had the experience, and I was excited to do it. I’d never done a green screen picture before. I did the The Kominsky Method because I wanted to work with Chuck Lorre and try some comedy. But I’m enjoying my hiatus and enjoying my life. It was overwhelming running the production company and acting at the same time.
What Michael Douglas' Hank Pym Comments Mean For The MCU Close Assuming that Douglas doesn"t have a secret cameo coming up in the story of Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, it makes sense why the actor sees himself having finished his time playing Hank in the MCU. While Hank was crucial to the Ant-Man trilogy, Douglas" character has been more of a supporting MCU player, in comparison to someone like Paul Rudd"s Scott Lang. For the overall narrative of the MCU as a whole, it"s not too imperative whether or not Hank is involved with the franchise anymore.
It"s also key to take into account that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania didn"t really leave any unanswered questions about Hank, which may also be another reason why Douglas doesn"t see the need to jump back in the MCU anytime soon. However, based on Douglas" response, he doesn"t seem entirely against the idea of coming back, meaning it may all depend on whether Marvel Studios finds a good story that would interest him enough to reprise the role.
Our Take On Michael Douglas' Hank Pym Comments While it would be a potential shame not to see Hank at least one last time before The Multiverse Saga concludes, it"s perfectly understandable from what Douglas is saying why he may not be rushing to do another MCU film anytime soon. However, with the many MCU characters that exist, there are definitely several players that could use more focus, whereas someone like Hank simply doesn"t. But for now, anyone who wants to relive Douglas" MCU journey can catch Hank"s arc through various movies and TV shows via streaming and home release.
